Mido

Mido was founded on November 11, 1918, in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, by watchmaker Georges Schaeren, with the brand name drawn from the Spanish phrase "Yo Mido," meaning "I Measure." The company built its reputation on functional, durable watches, and in 1934 launched the Multifort line, the first watch to unite a self-winding movement, anti-magnetic protection, shock resistance, and water resistance in one piece. 

In 1954, Mido introduced its "Powerwind" full-rotor automatic system, reducing winding components from 16 to just 7, creating a more robust, serviceable, and efficient way of converting wrist motion into mainspring power. The Caliber 917P, a 17-jewel movement, which powers this watch powered the resulting Multifort Superautomatic Powerwind watches of the mid-1950s, prized today for their reliability and mid-century styling. It's not a hacking watch (ie the second hand doesn't stop so you can set the accurate time).

Condition

So the great points to mention first: 

•  the gold plated case is in great condition and with the gold plated hands and arrow indexes the black dial is in wonderful contrast and is a most striking watch.
•  The watch is cosmetically very clean and running strongly and in vintage watch parameters of +/- 30 seconds per day.

And what you should know:

• there is wear to the whole dial - a kind of blotchy patina. I think it looks great and some love this kind of look.
